Dungarvan Discovery
Taste Tour

Take a walk, talk and taste tour of Dungarvan – and discover its food and drink delights

Everything surrounding us comes alive and all our senses are awakened to the sound of an entertaining story and good food.

On this guided walking tour experience, you will hear of times when the Neolithic hunter gatherer settled around the harbour bay all the way up to the modern day rejuvenated town, now full of food venues.

Heritage stories from local dairy food production and fishing at its quayside, to the peacefulness of the lookout and viewing of the natural Cunnigar sand spit feature across the harbour, your tour guide Stíofán Mac Cárthaigh of StepsBackThruTime, the walking seanchaí, will take you around its winding streets to entertain you with stories while incorporating three food stops.

Meet your tour guide Stíofàn Mac Càrthaigh outside the County Museum, St Augustine Street, Dungarvan.

6.30pm – The Tannery Restaurant

Your first stop is The Tannery Restaurant – recognised as one of Ireland’s finest restaurants and co-owned by the renowned chef, Paul Flynn. Guests will be greeted with an array of tasters focusing on Waterford produce, a mouth-watering focus on flavour, and a unique location for serving up that most important of ingredients – a great time.

7.30pm – The Old Bank Restaurant

Located overlooking the postcard-perfect Dungarvan Harbour, The Old Bank occupies the iconic 19th-century Bridge House and is the setting for the second stop of the tour. Experience the delights of three tapas dishes, accompanied with homemade Sangria.

8.30pm – The Local Bar

A warm welcome always awaits visitors to The Local on Grattan Square. It’s a unique venue where Helena and Donnachadh will serve you a traditional Irish Coffee. And if you’re very lucky, you can hear the bodhrán being played at one of the famous Irish music sessions in the bar – an unforgettable experience!

9.00pm

Guests can go on to enjoy pubs and venues in Dungarvan, recommended by Stíofán Mac Cárthaigh.
